Muti, Riccardo

Riccardo Muti (1941- ), Italian conductor, born in Naples, studied piano at the Naples Conservatory and conducting at the Milan conservatory, won the Guido Cantelli conducting competition in 1967, then conducted in Florence, debut in Philadelphia, 1972 and succeeded Ormandy in 1992, conducted in La Scala, Covent Garden, Salzburg Festival, Munich, Paris etc. He is appointed music director of Chicago Symphony Orchestra starting 2010.
