Moniuszko, Stanislaw

Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819-1872), Polish composer, studied in Berlin. Returning to Poland he served as church organist at Vinius, conducted at the Grand Theater, also taught at the Warsaw Conservatory, he composed the first Polish national opera "Halka", he composed operas, ballet music, symphonic poems, and songs.
