Miyagi, Michio

Michio Miyagi (1894-1956), Japanese musician(koto player and composer), studied to play koto privately at the age 8, dedicating the rest of his life to the instrument, stayed in south Korea a while, returned to Japan and taught at the Tokyo College of Music and appointed to the Academy of Arts of Japan. He reached the highest rank for koto performer. He composed more than 500 koto music and improved Japanese string instruments.
